It is an alternative approach to e-learning. Interactive whiteboards are used to provide , PLE to students in an interactive manner. While Virtual learning environment and Learning management systems focus on course, PLE focus on the individual learners. It helps learners to set there own learning goals, manage there content and process and communicate with other learners.PLE can be a desktop application, blog, podcasts, wikis or a more complex application.

In PLE, its needs which drive the learning process and not technology. It enables learners to build there own learning network. As such PLE doesn't pre-weight any knowledge like LMS. Internet and connective technology are the two main factors responsible for the popularity of PLEs. PLE incorporates both formal and informal learning. Social networking sites like myspace, orkut, facebook etc can act as PLEs as they provide users the ability to manage there own identity, ability to dialogs with other users and most importantly provide the ability to share resources through communities, blogs, forums and groups. Lack of content presentation tools is a big challenge for personal learning environment. However this challenge can be overcomed by using content presentation softwares with interactive whiteboards.

Interactive Whiteboards and PLE

LCD Projectors India

ICT Solutions and Personal Learning Environment

Interactive Response System and PLE
Class room of the Future: Personal Learning Environment
